In a photo taken in 1909, 84-year-old Pinhus Karlinsky, who worked as an overseer of the Chernihiv culvert (Leningrad Region).
Proskudin-Gorsky is one of the first Russian photographers to travel around most of the Russian Empire by taking color photographs of everyday life of ordinary people.
